Wow, what an incredible day! First we started off by traveling to the city of Dovid. There we learned the history behind the lifestyle of Dovid Hamelach. During the tour we walked through water tunnels which was used as their water system. After this amazing tour we went to the old city of yerushalyim and ate a great lunch. We then had a little bit of time to walk around the old city. Following that we went to a very beautiful museum. In this museum we learned all about the Beis Hamikdash. The art was beautiful. The next thing we did was tour the old city and went to the Muslim quarter which was intense. It's very crazy how just walking for two minute you are surrounded by hate and radical people. Especially in time of war the hate is even more then usual. In the Muslim quarter we went to one of the 65 Jewish families who live there. She told us how she was able to live in "their" quarters and how amazing it is. After that our tour guide brought us to the Kotel Katan were we davened and sang. We went to Daven Mincha at the Kotel. On our way back from yerushalyim when we were almost back to Beit Meir a siren went off. We all had to run and cover our heads. It's was for sure a traumatic experience but Thank G-d we are all safe and sound.
My day was full of excitement. But there was one thing that stood out! When we arrived to the city of dovid there was a man and his wife there that a few other girls had met a few days earlier. The man and his wife started talking to Mrs Swerdlov and the wife asked if her husband can join our group because she didn't want him to go by himself. So Eric joined our group. Us camp girls are always singing and while we were in the water tunnels we started singing Ani Mamin. One girl started explaining the translation of Ani Mamin. After we got out of the water tunnels he told us that this was the most inspirational and uplifting experience he had in Israel and that he feels the Remdemption of moshiach is coming right away. When we went to tell Mrs Swerdlov she told us that while we were on the tour she was talking to Eric's wife and she told her that he just found out he was Jewish.
This was the highlight of my day and I learned a great lesson. We always have to remember who we are and what we stand for. By acting the right way we never know what we could do to a person!
